2019 Tennis Events

Now is a good time to put dates into your diaries for some of the biggest Highgate tennis events. Here for a summary of all of them:

Pete Oliver Quiz 9th March – Hosted by Rob Heeney, it’s a great chance to get together and pit our wits against teams from cricket and tennis, and with many of Pete’s friends from outside the club.

Paint Brookside Clubhouse – Work party 5,6,7th April. Ahead of the Brookside tournament and the new season we need volunteers to spend a couple of hours (or more) sprucing up the clubhouse. Its great in the gym on the inside – but the outside needs some TLC. Please email William on tennis.chair.highgate@gmail.com to let him know how you can help – all you need to do is wield a paintbrush.

Brookside Tournament  18th May to Saturday 9th June (finals day). This event, again run by Nick Finley and Richard Rogers uses a cunning handicap system to enable every level of the club to be fairly matched against each other.

The Annual Club Championships – In a major change from tradition, this will run from mid July to the finals day on Saturday 14th September. This extended period should increase participation by avoiding finals day in the school holidays, and adopting a “progressive draw’ system, with two or three different levels of draw – based on ladder level or equivalent, and finals for all two or three levels on 14th September. Semi-finalists in each draw will go up into the next level as well. We want to encourage all playing levels to participate in a really enjoyable event. More details to follow.
