Shepherd’s Cot Logo Competition – Deadline extended to 28 Feb

We would like to begin with (i) a request from the Development Group for professional advice from club members and (ii) a competition to find a Shepherds Cot logo.

You will find in each section some relevant contact details if you would like to help or take part, and a deadline for the logo competition of 28 February!

(i) Do you have professional skills that could help deliver improved sporting and other facilities in the Shepherds Cot?

The Shepherds Cot survey held over the summer demonstrated strong support from cricket and tennis club members for new and improved facilities in the Cot. To turn these aspirations into reality the clubs need some professional advice. We are looking for club members (or friends of members) to volunteer a few hours to provide some advice as we develop our plans.

We are particularly looking for the following skills:

  •     Town planning
  •     Architecture/masterplanning
  •     Landscape architecture/design
  •     Surveying
  •     Civil engineering and hydrology
  •     Business planning
  •     Financial modelling
  •     Fundraising

(ii) Logo Competiton

Calling all Shepherds Cot members – that’s you if you belong to:

  • Hanley Lawn Tennis Club
  • Highgate Cricket and Lawn Tennis club
  • North London Cricket Club

The Shepherds Cot Trust needs a logo for fundraising and general communications.

At our recent AGM we agreed it would be a good idea to reach out to all Cot members and hold a competition. It’s time to put on your branding design consultancy hats and let us have your creative ideas. We’ll be offering a prize to the winner of the completion to be presented at a  Special Cot event in 2015 – so you’ll be a Cot megastar too!

The consultation and survey this year established that people felt the following about the Shepherds Cot:

  • It is loved by all for it’s uniquely rural beauty amidst the most dynamic city in the world
  • People enjoy their sports of cricket and / or tennis in beautiful green surroundings.
  • It is here where they can escape from the pressures of their busy city lives.
  • It is here that they find a friendly environment to enjoy their sports, meet their friends
  • It is here that they are part of a space that is private, yet welcomes the public

The Shepherds Cot Trusts Logo needs to represent:

  • Rural peace
  • Cricket
  • Tennis

The Shepherds Cot Trust Logo needs to include:

  • A symbol
  • A strap line

The logo will be used across a wide range of media: letterheads, online, signage, products etc. Ideally we would like to receive final artwork suitable for adaptation for all usage, but most important of all at this stage is to get the logo that works best for the Cot.
